On December 12, 2016, the stems of the song were published by LazyTown staff on YouTube, SoundCloud and Mega. The song wouldn't become a meme until 2016, and is one of the few memes that was initiated by SiIvaGunner and then spread beyond it. The music video was released to YouTube in 2015. The song was first released on October 3, 2014, as part of the LazyTown episode "Robbie's Dream Team". The melody of the song was created in September 2013 by Máni Svavarsson while he was driving in his car and recorded him humming the tune on his mobile phone.
